Economists collect and publish macroeconomic data on almost every country in the world. Barro's textbook for the macroeconomics on-line course surveys some of these studies. You can find a wealth of data by searching the web; most data is freely available. This candidate examines GDP growth in African nations. You can do similar projects for Latin America, Asia, western Europe, eastern Europe, and the Middle East.
