The candidate fears that the regression does not explain much of electricity use. On the contrary: a 37% adjusted R2 is quite good for a simple regression of this sort. These few explanatory variables explain more than a third of the variance in the observed values. Pricing actuaries forecasting personal auto or workers compensation claim frequencies, using many class dimensions and hundreds of levels, dont do as well.
