Is it possible for a firm to underwrite it's own IPO?

I realize that in practice this would require certain expertise from the firm and may make investors suspicious about the offering price.

[NEAS: Securities markets (stock exchanges) have IPO regulations to ensure no conflict of interest and honest dealing. As long as the firm abides by the regulations, it can underwrite the IPO.]
