How is the final exam taken?  Is it paper an pencil or on the computer?  Do we download it or is it a hardcopy mailed to us/our proctor?  I haven't found too much information in these forums about the final exam.

[NEAS: Hardcopy (pencil and paper) exam, as required by the SOA. The exam is email (in PDF format) to the proctor.]

What is the format of the final exam? Multiple choice?

[NEAS: 50 questions, multiple choice, 2 hours]

I have a few questions relating to the final exam:

1) Approximately what percentage of students typically pass the final?

2) When will the final exam become available to my proctor?

3) What happens if I fail the final exam?

[NEAS: 1. The pass rate varies by exam and by semester. 2. The final exam is send to proctors the week before the exam. Candidates are informed of the exam results 2 to 3 weeks after the exam. 3. If you fail the exam, you may take the exam again (at no extra charge) the next semester.]

Hi,
I saw that one profession that can qualify is teacher. I was hoping to ask a high school teacher to be my proctor but does this person need to have a teacher's college degree or is teaching in a accredited high school enough to qualify the person.
Thank you,
AD

[NEAS: If no actuary is available (or other business professional), a high school teacher is okay.]
