I'm having a problem with the example on pg. 28. How did they get ρ1 = -0.4?
We know that ρk = γk / γ0.
γk = Cov[et - .5et-k, et-k - .5et-k-1] = Cov[et, et-k] - Cov[et, et-k-1]/4 - Cov[et-k, et-1]/4 + Cov[et-1, et-k-1]/16 = {-0.25*(σe)squared, if |k| = 1; 0, if |k| > 1; 1.25*(σe)squared, if k = 0}
therefore, ρ1 = -0.25/1.25 = -0.2
What am I doing wrong?
